TEXAS H.B. 698 - CONSUMER PRIVACY, PRIVACY (FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS), PRIVACY (GENERAL)
Summary: Requires a business that disposes of a business record that contains personal identifying information of a customer of the business to modify, by shredding, erasing, or other means, the personal identifying information to make it unreadable or undecipherable.
Defines "personal identifying information" as an individual's: (1) name, date of birth or social security number; (2) mother's maiden name; (3) unique biometric data; (4) unique electronic identification number, address or routing code; (5) telecommunication access device, including debit and credit card information; (6) financial institution account number or any other financial information and (7) telephone number.
